A Full-Circle Moment
We were at Raekwon’s studio in New Jersey, running through a ton of beats, when I played the instrumental that would become The Trial. Ghost only needed about three seconds before he pointed and said, “That one.” As soon as the beat was loaded up in Pro Tools, Rae and Ghost started writing, deciding to trade verses back and forth in that classic RAGU style.
Watching them feed off each other’s energy — moving from the booth to the pad and back, bar for bar — was a surreal moment for me. Not just as their producer, but as a lifelong fan, it was one of those full-circle experiences I’ll never forget.
After that session, the track sat on ice for a few years. Then, when it came time for Supreme Clientele 2, I got the call that not only was The Trial going to make the album, but it would also feature two more of my all-time favorite MCs from Wu-Tang: GZA and Method Man. That news turned a proud moment into something legendary.

Building the Sound
The foundation of The Trial came from flipping Karin Krog’s “We Could Be Flying” into something dark and cinematic. Heave bass and smacking drums.

The Artists’ Contributions
Hearing the lineup on this track still gives me chills:
-
Ghostface Killah – raw, animated, and vivid as ever.
-
Raekwon – unmatched street imagery that locks right into the mood.
-
Method Man – Judge narration that sets the stage like a movie.
-
GZA – one of my favorite MCs ever, blessing the beat with a rare guest appearance. Gza hardly ever does features anymore so having him rock on one of my beats was truly a honor.
-
Reek Da Villian & PiLLZ – new energy, bridging the old and new school seamlessly.
As a producer, moments like these are rare. To have Meth narrating, Rae and Ghost trading bars, and GZA stepping in with those razor-sharp lines — all on one of my beats — that’s something I’ll carry with me forever.
What It Means to Me
The Trial represents everything I love about hip-hop: storytelling, collaboration, and legacy. Being part of this record is more than just another credit — it’s a cultural milestone and a reminder of why I create.
I’ll forever be grateful to Rae, Ghost, and the whole Wu-Tang family for trusting me to help shape this moment. And I’m just getting started — the beats, the stories, the energy… there’s a lot more on the way.
